If you are thinking of ordering a product from CIDA Wood Design Limited the process begins by contacting me by phone or email. If I don’t answer the phone immediately, please leave a message and I will get back to you promptly.
I will then have a no obligation discussion with you by phone, at the workshop, or arrange to come out to your home. Following that discussion I will provide a quotation for your consideration, and sometimes I will provide drawings. If this is acceptable I may then need to come back to take detailed measurements and photographs. All of this is free of charge – unless very detailed drawings are required, in which case I will charge a fee deductable from the commission later.
Once a commission has been agreed I will provide an estimated time for delivery. This cannot be a fixed date or time – the work is too individual, but it will be a good estimate. If there are particular deadlines that you need to meet, them I will always do my best to ensure I meet them, or I will tell you from the outset if that is likely to be a problem. I will then issue an invoice for the deposit and at that stage the commission will have been completed.
It should be remembered that wood is different from ‘manmade’ products in that each piece is unique. I will always select the best timber available and with the needs of the client in mind – however, I cannot be responsible for small defects, knots and minor differences in colour, grain or markings on the wood – if you have very particular requirements please discuss this from the outset.
Bespoke orders cannot be cancelled once the work has begun. If an order has to be cancelled, this will need to be in writing and will incur a cost that indemnifies CIDA Wood Design Limited against loss. I will always try to accommodate alterations but once work has started this may not be possible.
A 50% deposit is nearly always payable upon order. The balance is payable once production is complete and the order is ready for delivery. If there is an installation involved, the installation will be charged for once that is completed.
For very high value orders I will make an individual arrangement with the client for the deposit and stage payments. This will be to reduce the initial outlay to the client whilst maintaining a flow of cash for CIDA Wood Design Limited. Such arrangements will be determined by CIDA Wood Design Limited.
The price I quote will include all taxes and I will state if there are any options that will be payable separately.
I prefer payment to be made by Bank Transfer against invoice and I can take cheques. At the current time I do not take cards or paypal payments.
The Life of Your Product
It should be noted that wood can shrink or expand at any stage depending on the atmospheric conditions where it will be used. This is natural and is not something that CIDA Wood Design Ltd can be responsible for - although saying that I will always do my best to assist if any problems do arise.
Wood should be maintained – that is usually a very simple process and I always discuss maintenance with my clients. It is important that the product is kept in relatively stable conditions and the wood will then generally adjust to the place where it is being used.
Wood does not like to be used directly against radiators or directly above underfloor heating. This should be borne in mind and the particular location and specifics on moisture / heat should be discussed at the time of commissioning
